The Carl Martin is a rugged beast of a tuner, with ±1.0 cent detection accuracy, super-simple controls, and a large, easy to see display. It’s basic and built to last.
Digitech’s Hardwire HT-6 is a stupendous and highly-underrated tuner – and our favorite polyphonic tuner. The Korg GA Custom is the company’s latest upgrade to its GA line of pocket-sized tuners, offering improved detection accuracy and Korg’s eye-catching 3D Visual display — all for a modest price.
The stalwart Pitchblack has served as the basic pedal tuner offering in Korg’s line-up since 2007. And while still a solid choice, the Pitchblack Advance now provides much better accuracy and improved features at about the same price.
Korg’s Pitchblack Plus is underrated gem of a tuner. In addition to its excellent ±0.1 cent accuracy and wide range of tuning options, this tuner offers dual input jacks with each jack accommodating separate tuning settings. Now discontinued, you can often find good deals for the Plus on Reverb.
Korg’s newest guitar tuner, issued in late 2016, features very good ±0.1 cent accuracy and a new circuit designed to reduce signal noise when the pedal is connected to a power supply cable.
The Pitchblack Custom puts Korg’s “3D Visual” display (vertically oriented) in pedal format. Detection accuracy is a superb ±0.1 cent, but it’s a little short on advanced features.
The Korg Pitchblack mini is a brilliant little tuner, offering ±0.1 cent accuracy and a detection range better than the TCE PolyTune. It also costs less.
While not quite the PolyTune killer that Korg might have intended, the Pitchblack Poly is a rugged, easy-to-use polyphonic tuner, with a display that automatically switches from single-string to polyphonic display modes. Detection accuracy is ±1.0 cent in both modes.
